The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) Secretariat, within CIHEAM of Bari, will deliver for the third time an intensive two-weeks training course on “Developing Phytosanitary Capacities” from Monday 28th of May until Friday 8th of June at the CIHEAM of Bari.

This course will be provided to the 16 students of the CIHEAM Master programme on Sustainable Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Technologies for Mediterranean Fruit and Vegetable Crops, from all over the Mediterranean. The course is also open to 10 NPPO staff, worldwide.

This training builds on the IPPC technical guides: Establishing an NPPO, Operation of an NPPO, Managing relationships with stakeholders, etc. Representatives of EPPO and NEPPO, two Regional Plant Protection Organizations will also contribute to the training.

The curriculum is made up of general presentations on the IPPC, International Standards on Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs), activities of NPPOs and interactive exercises. Trainees will work in groups of 3 or 4 to elaborate case studies and share their results with other trainees.

NPPO staff interested in attending this course should send a Curriculum vitae with an accompanying message to Sarah Brunel, Implementation Facilitation Officer (sarah.brunel@fao.org) at the soonest and by the 20th of April.

The course is free of charge. Participants will be responsible for the cost of their travel and accommodation.
