The Commission on Phytosanitary Measures (CPM) 11 supported the creation of the new oversight body on implementation, but agreed it was premature to create the new body with the proposed Terms of Reference (ToR) and Rules of Procedure (RoP) prepared by the IPPC Secretariat. At a small group meeting convened at the side of CPM, a ToR was developed to form a Focus Group for establishing a new IPPC subsidiary body on implementation, to replace the Capacity Development Committee (CDC).
The Focus Group will consist of representatives from all seven FAO regions, representatives from the Bureau, IPPC subsidiary bodies, RPPOs and the FAO/other implementation related body. The Focus Group will meet 18-22 July 2016 in Paris, France.
The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) is issuing a call for discussion papers for this meeting to contracting parties, National Plant Protection Organizations (NPPOs), Regional Plant Protection Organizations (RPPOs) and relevant international organizations with a deadline of 10 June 2016.
The IPPC Secretariat invite all Near East and North AFrica NPPOs to submit discussion papers by 10 June 2016 to the IPPC Secretariat (Leanne.Stewart@fao.org).
